The vast majority of the current INRASTES scientific and technological activities and future directions fall under two specific priorities of the national smart specialization strategy in research and innovation (plan for 2014-2020):
- Health Services – Pharmaceuticals
- Energy, including issues related to Environmental Impacts, their monitoring and reduction so that Energy, Environment & Safety are dealt with in a unified manner (safe, clean and efficient energy processes).
Our activities are further organized into four thematic areas (divisions):
- Nuclear technology
- Radiological Sciences and Radiopharmaceuticals
- Biodiagnostic Sciences and Technologies
- Energy, Safety and Environmental Technologies
All thematic areas share a common background in Physical Sciences and their relative contribution to the two national smart specialization priorities is depicted schematically in the following diagram.
